FSMA for the Feed Industry

On October 29, 2013, FDA published its proposed FSMA rule on animal feed food safety regulations.  The title is called, Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis and Risk Based Preventative Control for Food for Animals.   The intent of the new law is to protect animals as well as handlers of animal food from food borne illness.  The law mirrors much of the preventative control rules for human food with the exception of the allergen protection requirements.  Comments on the proposed rule are due by February 26, 2014.
